The real reason for any failure

The event does not stop because the connection does

Marquees, basements, castles, listed buildings, a field: plenty of the best venues have no usable signal, and venue wifi that works at the site visit often gives out when three hundred guests arrive. With Booth Junkie that stops being something you have to price in or apologise for.

Taking the photo, showing it on screen and printing it never need a connection at all. Guests still choose to have their photo sent by WhatsApp, SMS or email exactly as they normally would — the booth simply holds on to the request until it can deliver it.

How the Upload Queue works

Every share — WhatsApp, SMS, email, Facebook, the online gallery, FTP, Dropbox and Google Drive — goes into the Upload Queue rather than being sent on the spot. If the booth is online it goes straight away. If it is not, it waits, and everything sends by itself the moment the booth is connected again — ten minutes later or the next morning back at the office.

Nothing is quietly lost

Every item in the queue shows where it has got to: queued, in progress, error or failed. A send that fails is retried automatically up to five times, waiting longer between each attempt, and anything that still cannot be delivered is listed with the actual reason from the server rather than a generic error.

So a phone number typed wrongly on the night is not a lost photo. Correct it in the queue, press Retry, and it goes.

Sending it the next morning, on purpose

Some operators hold shares back deliberately, even when the venue has a connection. At an evening event with a bar — a wedding, a party — guests barely look past their own faces on the night. A photo that arrives the next morning gets a proper look with a clearer head, and the branding on it and in the message actually gets noticed. Do photo booths need wifi? goes into it.

The one exception

AI processing happens on online services while the guest waits for their photo, so an event using AI effects needs a live connection. Everything else runs offline.

Try it on your own booth

The free trial runs for 30 days with every Premium feature switched on — pull the network cable, run a test session, plug it back in and watch the queue empty.

Photos carry a watermark until the machine is licensed, and the trial is not licensed for live or commercial events, so use it to test the booth rather than to cover a booking.
