The Best Photo Booth Software for Windows in 2026
For photo booths and magic mirrors: 8 options compared by people who’ve made photo booth software for 10 years
Checked October 2026. The details of every product on this page were checked independently, using publicly available information from each company’s own website and help pages at the time. Software changes, so check with the supplier before you buy, and if you spot something out of date, let us know and we’ll fix it.
Search for the best photo booth or photobooth software and nearly every list you’ll find is written by a company that sells it. This one is too. We make Booth Junkie.
Booth Junkie runs on Windows, so this list sticks to software you can run on a Windows PC. It’s what most enclosed booths and magic mirrors run on, because it lets you use a proper DSLR or mirrorless camera and print to a dye-sub event printer through an ordinary Windows driver. iPad apps are a different kind of setup and deserve their own comparison.
We haven’t scored anyone out of ten. The grid shows what each company says its own software does, and the write-ups add what 10 years of supporting booth operators has taught us about choosing.
Quick picks
- Bought once, no subscription: Booth Junkie, Breeze Remote Pro, Darkroom Booth, RightBooth, Social Booth, Sparkbooth

Windows photo booth software compared
All 8 work with DSLR and mirrorless cameras, run magic mirrors, send photos by text message and keep running with no connection at the venue, so those aren’t in the grid. What’s left is where they differ. Click a name to jump to its write-up.

✓ the company says it does this – it doesn’t ? its website doesn’t say. WhatsApp is ticked only where the software sends the message itself; if the guest has to share the photo to WhatsApp from their own phone, it’s a dash. New templates free means the company regularly adds new templates that customers get at no extra charge. Printer monitoring means the software reads what’s left on the ribbon from the printer itself, rather than counting its own prints. Companion mobile app means an app or dashboard that shows your booths’ status remotely, not just a photo gallery. Surveys means your own on-screen questions built into the software, not a fixed “enter your email” screen or a web form you host elsewhere. Dynamic templates means a guest’s answers, such as their name, print on the photo automatically. Built in card payments is ticked only where the software itself works with a card acceptor, with no separate app, web page or homemade program in between; paying by QR code on the guest’s own phone doesn’t count.
The shortlist
Ours, so read this one with that in mind. We’ve made it for 10 years and it’s used in about 80 countries. Canon DSLR and mirrorless or a webcam, any printer Windows can print to, and magic mirrors as well as standard booths. The booth sends the photo itself straight into guests’ WhatsApp, through the official WhatsApp Business Platform with no charge per message, it works without wifi, new templates and AI styles are added to its built-in libraries regularly, and it reads what’s left on the printer’s ribbon and warns you through the Booth Junkie Connect app when it’s running low. Bought once for the machine, with 12 months of Premium included.
Windows 10 only, no iPad or Android version. Free 30 day trial.
This used to be called DSLR Remote Pro, so if that’s the name you know, this is it. Breeze’s Windows booth software, bought once with 12 months of updates, with a Remote Pro Plus tier above it.
Breeze also make an iPad app, Breeze Booth, which is a separate product with its own licence.
From Darkroom Software, who also make Darkroom Core and Pro for event photographers. Bought once, with optional yearly maintenance, and it keeps working if maintenance lapses. There’s also a 10 day licence for one-off jobs.
Their pricing page lists Windows 11. The iPad version is a separate subscription.
dslrBooth with a new name, so if you’ve been searching for dslrBooth, this is it. Monthly or yearly subscription. Their site covers a mirror booth mode and AI Portraits.
The Apple and Android versions are separate products.
Photo and video booth software from Aire Valley Software, for Windows 10 and 11. No subscription: bought once with 12 months of updates.
They’re clear it doesn’t run on a Mac or iOS.
One of the few that runs on Windows and Mac on the same licence. Their site covers webcams, DSLRs and mirror booths. Bought once and it doesn’t expire.
The Mac version needs macOS 13.7 or later.
Touchpix
Runs on Windows, and on Mac, iPad, iPhone and Android too, with one licence covering every platform. Sold as time passes, weekly to yearly, plus credit packs. Covers 360 booths as well as standard ones, and they sell accessories like an Android mirror box.
Sold as time passes rather than a one-off licence, so check what still works between passes.
What we’d check before choosing
Your camera, not just the brand. Run the trial with the exact camera you’ll use at events. A camera that works perfectly in one program can behave differently in another, and you want to find that out at home, not at a wedding.
How it prints strips. A dye-sub printer uses a full ribbon panel per print whether you fill it or not, so a single 2×6 strip costs the same as a 6×4. That’s why most operators print two strips side by side on one 6×4 and cut it. Make sure the software can lay that out for you. Our printer guide goes through the running costs.
What happens to messages with no signal. Plenty of venues are in fields, barns and basements. Find out whether texts and emails wait and send by themselves once you’re back online, or have to be resent by hand.
What sharing costs on top. Text messages in particular are often limited to certain countries or charged per message. Check before you promise a client unlimited texts.
What stops when you stop paying. With a subscription, usually everything. With a one-off licence, usually just updates and support. Ask either way.
When support is open. Most events are on weekend evenings. That’s when you’ll need it.
Questions people ask
What is the best photo booth software for Windows?
The main options are Booth Junkie, Breeze Remote Pro, Darkroom Booth, LumaBooth for Windows, RightBooth, Social Booth, Sparkbooth and Touchpix. We’d say Booth Junkie, but we would. Try two or three with your own camera and printer and see which one you’d want to be using at 11pm on a Saturday.
Is there photo booth software without a subscription?
Yes. Booth Junkie, Breeze Remote Pro, Darkroom Booth, RightBooth, Social Booth and Sparkbooth are all sold as one-off licences. Most include a period of updates, and you renew only if you want the newer versions.
Which photo booth software sends photos by WhatsApp?
Booth Junkie sends the photo itself straight into the guest’s WhatsApp chat, through the official WhatsApp Business Platform under our own agreement with Meta, with no charge per message. The guest types their number and that’s it. Touchpix mentions WhatsApp, but we couldn’t confirm from its site how the message is sent. With the others, the software doesn’t send it: at most the guest is handed a QR code to send the photo to themselves.
What is the best magic mirror software?
Every program on this list runs magic mirror booths as well as standard ones, so the choice comes down to the same things: your camera, how you want guests to get their photos, and whether you’d rather buy once or subscribe. Booth Junkie has its own page on magic mirror photo booth software.
Is dslrBooth the same as LumaBooth?
Yes. dslrBooth has been renamed LumaBooth for Windows. LumaBooth for Apple and LumaBooth for Android are separate products from the same company.
Is there free photo booth software?
There are some free and open-source projects, mostly aimed at home builds. Most professional software isn’t free but has a free trial, often with a watermark, which is the best way to find out if it suits you. Ours is 30 days with everything switched on.
Checked October 2026. Independently checked using publicly available information from each company’s own website and help pages. Where a company’s site doesn’t say whether it does something, the grid shows a question mark rather than a guess. Nobody paid to be included, and we weren’t paid by anyone listed. Product names belong to their owners.
Social Booth
WindowsOne-off licence
Photo Booth Solutions’ Windows software. Bought once, including a year of updates and installs on two PCs, with paid renewals after that. There’s a mirror booth version too.
Two PCs on one licence is handy if you keep a spare laptop in the van.
