If photos aren’t reaching guests by email, SMS, WhatsApp, Facebook, or one of the cloud upload destinations, work through this list before assuming anything is broken — most sharing issues trace back to one of a handful of causes shared across every sharing method.
Check the basics first
- Is the sharing method actually turned on? Every sharing method in the Sharing tab has its own enable toggle (usually the first switch on that method’s screen). It’s easy to have configured the details but left the toggle off.
- Is there an internet connection? Every sharing method needs the booth PC to reach the internet — email, SMS, WhatsApp, Facebook and the cloud upload destinations (Dropbox, Google Drive, FTP) all send over the internet, not a local network. If the venue’s Wi-Fi is unreliable, sharing will be too, even though photo capture and printing keep working fine, since those don’t need a connection.
- Are the credentials still valid? Email, Facebook, Dropbox and Google Drive all rely on a login or access token configured once and then reused. If a password was changed, an app-specific password expired, or an account’s access was revoked, sharing for that method will stop until it’s reconnected.
- Check the Upload Queue. Photos waiting to send sit in the Upload Queue rather than disappearing if a send fails — see Understanding the Upload Queue to see what’s pending and whether anything is stuck.
Method-specific checks
If the basics above are all fine, the fault is usually specific to one method:
- Email — see Customising the email settings. Gmail in particular has tightened its security requirements over time; a plain password may no longer work.
- SMS / MMS — see Customising the SMS settings and How do I send photos as MMS/SMS?.
- WhatsApp — see Setting Up WhatsApp Sharing.
- Facebook — see Automatically posting to Facebook. Facebook access tokens expire periodically and need reconnecting from time to time even if nothing else has changed.
- Dropbox / Google Drive — see Dropbox Upload and Google Drive Upload.
- FTP — see How do I upload Photos to an FTP Server?. Double-check the server address, path and login details haven’t changed at the hosting end.
- Online gallery / microsite — see How do I upload photos to the online gallery (microsite)?.
Still stuck
If one sharing method has genuinely stopped working after previously being fine, the most common cause by far is a changed password or expired token at the other end (your email provider, Facebook, Dropbox or Google account) rather than anything in Booth Junkie’s own settings — start by re-entering your credentials for that method before looking anywhere else.
